Comments about Spalding Spalding 68395 NBA Polycarbonate 54 inch Portable Basketball System:

Not sure what all the fuss is about putting it together. Granted, nothing comes preassembled except the backboard, but my son and I put it together in slightly over 2 hours... on a 98 degree day taking numerous water breaks. Assembly went smooth and had no trouble persuading the 3 sections together. $ for $, it's an outstanding system. I highly recommend.

Comments about Spalding Spalding 68395 NBA Polycarbonate 54 inch Portable Basketball System:

The instructions to put this thing together are the worst I have ever seen! Parts didn't match-up with the pictures. We had to go to the local hardware store and buy a bolt that was not included. Putting it together was also a pain if you don't own a sawhorse. Once, it was together we loved it. It took about four and a half hours to put it together.

Comments about Spalding Spalding 68395 NBA Polycarbonate 54 inch Portable Basketball System:

Believe it or not, I set this goal up by myself. The hardest thing was fitting the poles in each other. The key is to get one pole started in the other, after that, you have to bounce them together as the manual says or, as I say, pound the hell out of them to get them to fit securely. You have to hold them together and pound them very hard downward on a thick wooden board. I had a screamin headache after doing this and had to rest for a while. It took me 9 hours to complete total assembly. I started at 11am and finished at 8pm. IT LOOKS AND PERFORMS AWESOME!! Please fill with sand for maximum stability. I filled mine with nine 50lbs. bags of all-purpose sand from Lowes. In conclusion, after all the hard work, IT'S WELL WORTH IT. [...] Cool! I hope this review helps.

Cons:

Comments about Spalding Spalding 68395 NBA Polycarbonate 54 inch Portable Basketball System:

The pole is impossible to fit together, making complete assembly impossible. The reviewer who claims to have used a blow torch pretty much says it all. The black pole and pad heats up in the sun and can cause burns, and the manual calls for 475lbs of sand (a quarter ton)- which is a truck full! Otherwise, it looks nice sitting in pieces in the garage.

Comments about Spalding Spalding 68395 NBA Polycarbonate 54 inch Portable Basketball System:

Very good construction. Square pole was difficult to fit together (very tight). Had to heat one end with a torch and use tons of WD-40. Holds nine 50 lb bags of sand. After that, rest of assembly was easy.
