As a coach and a club director, it was always a players choice to wear Active Ankles. I believed if used without previous injury, it would only weaken ankles or cause injury. My daughter sprained her ankle pre season her senior year and wore one on bad ankle. Last game of the season for state champ and she came down on another players foot. She did not role her ankle but the plastic on the bottom shattered the bones in her foot. 9 months of surgery, pins, casts and therapy and three years later she still can not move 2 toes and is always in pain - even recreational sports are out forever! Oh by the way - we lost!

I grew very quickly when I was younger and ended up with weak ankles. I bought this brace when I was a freshman in high school, while on the basketball team. I wore it ever game on my left ankle, the weaker of my two ankles, but I would take it off for practice, to strengthen my ankle. It is impossible to role your ankle with this brace on. The only thing to note with this brace is you cannot move your ankle from side to side, so on very rare occasions, when you need to cut very hard, your foot will not plant well and you may fall. It will allow easy front to back movement and you hardly notice it while playing. With that said, I have had this same brace for over 10 years and it is still in great shape, I would highly recommend it. In fact the s team at the high school I played at required all the s to wear this brace on both ankles for every game (This may be a little excessive)
