It has compression pads right where you need them. Sports Med was out of the left one when i was there, but they gave me a right one and it worked. The pads are a little off, but it still worked great! I'm buying a left one because I tend to twist ankles and I would definitely use this again. Perfect for where the swelling is...you might be able to see the pads in the photo. A lot of braces are so bulky that you would pitch them as soon as possible. This one fits inside of a shoe very well. I sit at a desk during the day and my ankle would swell. This prevents that. It's the brace that you want to wear because it works...not the one you are trying to pitch because it's annoying. It feels better with it on.
